Chrome Experiments

Some really interesting experiments with HTML5 going on here… http://www.chromeexperiments.com/ …including a fun one from a familiar name, prolific Flash & Papervision3d experimenter Mr.Doob. ‘Browser Ball‘ is also pretty cool. Gonna have to start playing with this myself, have seen some really nice stuff starting to come out in this area recently.

  • OpenGL, DirectX and Devices

244 readersGizmodo is reporting OpenGL 3.0 support in OSX 10.6.3, not massively exciting in itself, but OpenGL is something I have been thinking quite a bit about recently. In my brief career as a programmer, I’ve dabbled with DirectX, starting with version 7. I found it incredibly cryptic as a mid-teen but by this time just

418 readersI thought Builder extensions operated in a funny web browser that meant you could use html, including forms, but returned data in some funny XML format.  Oh how wrong I was.  You can use html but only for outputting information.  The most common way to write extensions is by using the built in Eclipse input

1167 readersI had heard through the grapevine that Apple would be posting a set of HTML5 demos today. To be honest I was kind of looking forward to seeing some cool stuff. Instead they have presented a set of basic demos that have very little to do with HTML5 or web standards. On top of that

    Slow motion flash for debugging

525 readersSo, here's the deal. You're working on something in flash, you test several simultaneous scripted (or not) animations out and notice something's wrong. There's some weird overlapping or something going on there, but it's really hard to tell since it all happens so fast. Sure, you could leave it there as it's barely noticable, but
